Funding Programs

Birth to Three Program serves children under age three with developmental disabilities or delays and their families to provide Early Intervention therapy and services. www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/health-care-coverage/health-care-coverage/birth-3-program

Children's Long Term Support Program (CLTS) offers funding for families of children who have developmental disabilities, emotional disturbances, and/or physical disabilities to provide services based on the child's needs. www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/clts/index.htm

Community Options Program (COP) provides support for children and individuals who need long term care to stay in their home, including equipment and aids, care management and applied behavior analysis (ABA therapy). www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/fsp/index.htm

Katie Beckett Waiver Program offers special eligibility for some children with long-term special needs to obtain a Wisconsin ForwardHealth Medicaid card. www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/kbp/index.htm

General Resources and Adaptive Equipment

Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin offers informational resources, networking opportunities, workshops and support groups for families. www.assew.org

Autism Speaks is a national organization with the goal of connecting individuals with autism and their families with resources and information to address the challenges associated with autism throughout the lifespan. www.autismspeaks.org

Best Buddies creates opportunities for friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. www.bestbuddies.org

Disability Rights Wisconsin works to advocate and reform legislation on behalf of individuals with disabilities. www.disabilityrightswi.org

Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin supports families and individuals with Down syndrome through support groups, educational resources and other family services. www.dsaw.org 

IndependenceFirst connects individuals with disabilities to a variety of community resources and advocacy opportunities. www.independencefirst.org

Katy's Kloset (a service of Team Up! With Families) offers a "lending library" of used medical equipment and new medical supplies for children and adults at no charge. www.teamupwithfamilies.org/katys-kloset

Southeast Regional Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (located within Children's Hospital of Wisconsin) is a resource available to support families of children with special needs. www.southeastregionalcenter.org

Special Olympics Wisconsin aims to "provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy while participating in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community." www.specialolympicswisconsin.org

Team Up! with Families looks to enrich, nurture, and strengthen families of children with special needs through various activities, services, and programs. www.teamupwithfamilies.org

Variety, The Children's Charity of Wisconsin, works to get children with special needs various medical equipment, including adaptive bikes and augmentative speech devices. www.varietywi.org

Waisman Center provides research, training, service and outreach to advance knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases through the University of Wisconsin - Madison. www.waisman.wisc.edu

Wisconsin Assistive Technology Program (WisTech) provides information to help with selecting, funding, installing and using assistive technology devices. www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/disabilities/wistech

Wisconsin Early Autism Project (WEAP) is a leader in early comprehensive behavioral treatment for young children with autism. www.wiautism.com

Wisconsin Family Assistance Center for Education, Training and Support (WI FACETS) connects families with a number of resources, including support groups. www.wifacets.org
